I actually prefer Aubrey. I think the "bree" sound makes it quite soft, and I like the similarity to "auburn", while Audrey sounds a bit dry. There's also the fact that the only male Aubrey I've ever heard of is Drake (I thought Aubrey was only a girls' name until then - not sure why, since I don't know of any female Aubreys, full stop), which probably helps.

Aug 25, · Hi, I'm Poppy, and I'm an Aubrey/Maturin-aholic. I'm completely addicted to Patrick O'Brian's Aubrey/Maturin novels. I have all 21 in hardcover, several audiobooks, and as many of the books about the books as I've found.

Of French origin, Aubrey results from the phonetical mutation of Alberic, which is a Germanic given name, meaning "Fair Ruler of the Little People."The name Alberich is the German variant. The Anglo-Saxons used before the Norman conquest the corresponding variant Ælf-rīc (see Ælfric).. A female form is recorded as Aubrée and does not share the same etymology.

Aubrey is the sweetest girl you will ever meet. She is amazing and beautiful and everything you could ever want in a girl. Aubrey is % perfection. Once you have her you won’t want to leave her. she is sometimes way to hyper and crazy but it makes for a good time and things are never boring around her. Aubrey is so funny and chill. She is a bit boy crazy but guys love her.

Aubrey is nice (to me) because it feels "different" from Audrey. It's more spunky, daring, and fun. I picture a girl named Audrey being very refined, polite, and ladylike, while a girl named Aubrey is more carefree, adventurous and energetic.
